SUFISME SEBAGAI KONTRA-NARASI: RESISTENSI BUDAYA TERHADAP PURITANISME DALAM NOVEL MAUT ṢAGHĪR

Penelitian ini menganalisis novel Maut Ṣaghīr karya Mohammed Hasan Alwan sebagai bentuk intervensi budaya dalam lanskap sosial-politik Timur Tengah kontemporer. Di tengah dominasi wacana puritanisme yang meminggirkan tradisi tasawuf falsafi, novel ini hadir menawarkan kontra-narasi melalui representasi kehidupan Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi. Menggunakan teori representasi Stuart Hall, artikel ini mengungkap bagaimana Alwan mengonstruksi identitas sufi melalui oposisi biner terhadap formalisme kaum fuqahāʾ dan materialisme istana. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa novel ini merehabilitasi citra Ibn ‘Arabi dari stigma heretik menjadi simbol humanisme Islam, sekaligus mengkritik hegemoni otoritas agama yang kaku dan berafiliasi dengan kekuasaan korup.
