PENDEKATAN SOCIOSCIENTIFIC ISSUE DALAM PEMBAHASAN MOTOR LISTRIK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN ARGUMENTASI SISWA SMP

Penelitian ini yang bertujuan mendeskripsikan suatu peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi peserta didik SMP dalam pembahasan motor listrik setelah dilakukan pendekatan socioscientific issue dalam pembelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dengan quantitatif pre-experimental dan one group pretest posttest design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu 25 siswa kelas VIIB SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman Sidoarjo tahun 2023/2024. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu dengan menggunakkan observasi, tes, dan angket. Kemampuan argumentasi siswa diukur menggunakkan pretest dan posttest lalu dianalisis menggunakkan uji Wilcoxon dan effect size. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan kemampuan argumentasi siswa SMP setelah pembelajaran. Peningkatan juga dapat terlihat dari level argumentasi siswa dimana pada pretest sebagian besar siswa berada pada level 1 yaitu sebanyak 73,08% siswa sedangkan pada posttest 100% siswa mencapai level 3 hingga 5. Effect size sebesar 1,576 dengan kategori besar sehingga pendekatan socioscientific issue dalam pembelajaran IPA memiliki pengaruh yang besar terhadap peningkatan argumentasi siswa.
